Basketball Game Preview: Thornton Academy Trojans vs. Gorham Rams

The Thornton Academy Trojans will square off against the Gorham Rams at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Thornton Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.

Thornton Academy is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since December 10, 2024 on Friday. They claimed a resounding 65-34 win over Bangor. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Rams are ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Gorham didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Scarborough on Friday, but they still walked away with a 50-46 victory.

Thornton Academy pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Gorham, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.

Thornton Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Gorham in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 62-49. Does Thornton Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gorham turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
