Basketball Recap: Thomas Heyward Academy Takes a Loss

Thomas Heyward Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors. The Rebels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 54-50.

Andrew Jackson Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden McClung, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards McClung has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elizuh Davis, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Thomas Heyward Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Coming up, Thomas Heyward Academy will take on Beaufort Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they will face off against Dorchester Academy at 7:35 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
