Basketball Game Preview: Travelers Rest Devildogs vs. Daniel Lions

Travelers Rest is 0-3 against Daniel since January of 2025 but things could change on Friday. The Devildogs will take on the Lions at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Travelers Rest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-43 to Pickens.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Caden Johnston, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Beavers, who scored seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Daniel entered their tilt with Pickens on Wednesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Blue Flame 60-37.

Daniel's win came from a few key players that Travelers Rest will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was James Epting, who shot 71% from the field to rack up 14 points and six assists. Jackson Conley was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took racking up 10 points and six boards.

Daniel was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pickens only racked up eight.

Travelers Rest's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Daniel, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.

Things could have been worse for Travelers Rest, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-44 loss to Daniel in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Conley, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Now that the Devildogs know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
