Preview: Chaparral Bobcats vs. Ellison Eagles
Chaparral is 0-3 against Ellison since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chaparral Bobcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ellison Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Chaparral will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while Ellison is ranked 39th).
Last Tuesday, Chaparral was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-40 to Shoemaker. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chaparral in their matchups with Shoemaker: they've now lost four in a row.
Chaparral's loss came about despite a quality game from CJ Norwood, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Norwood has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brad Miles, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Ellison stacked a 16th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Belton with a sharp 63-39 victory. Winning may never get old, but Ellison sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Chaparral's defeat dropped their record down to 16-16. As for Ellison, their win was their 19th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5.
