It's playoff time, and Guerin Catholic had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Cathedral Fighting Irish 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Golden Eagles sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Finn Holden looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Guerin Catholic is 10-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 8-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Guerin Catholic let Ben Canada and Ian Taylor run wild. Canada got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Taylor went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Karson Smith was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

Guerin Catholic's record now sits at 18-12. As for Cathedral, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-10.

Coming up, Guerin Catholic will square off against New Palestine at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dragons' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Cathedral does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
