Basketball Recap: New Holstein Huskies vs. Living Word Lutheran Timberwolves
New Holstein was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Living Word Lutheran Timberwolves, falling 69-34. The Huskies were not able to make up for their defeat to the Timberwolves from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.
Living Word Lutheran was led to victory by Delaney Winkelmann and Elaina Raymond. Winkelmann went 7 of 16 en route to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists, while Raymond went 8 for 12 on her way to 18 points and six assists. What's more, Winkelmann also racked up five steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Makenna Bynum was another key player, putting up four points along with seven boards, five assists, and five steals.
New Holstein's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Living Word Lutheran, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.
New Holstein will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brillion at 7:00 p.m. on February 20th. As for Living Word Lutheran, they will welcome Heritage Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Living Word Lutheran is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season.
