Baseball Recap: Tuscaloosa Academy Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Tuscaloosa Academy took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bibb County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights' pitcher stepped up to hand the Choctaws a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. The Knights were shut out 6-0 the last time they took on the Choctaws, so the Knights were just returning the favor.

Not much got past Harwood Beeker, who gave up just two hits to keep Bibb County off the board. Beeker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tuscaloosa Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellis Hamiter, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Tuscaloosa Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.

Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Bibb County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 19-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tuscaloosa Academy will square off against Leeds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greenwave will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Bibb County, they will face off against Chilton County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Choctaws are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
