Dodgeville is a perfect 10-0 against Richland Center since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Dodgers will head out on the road to square off against the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. Dodgeville is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Dodgeville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Wisconsin Heights on Thursday. The Dodgers blew past the Vanguards 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Dodgers, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Lily Weigel was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Emma Dougherty was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Rylee Forsyth was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Dodgeville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wisconsin Heights only posted a batting average of .250.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Richland Center's offense. They came up short against Prairie du Chien on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The Hornets' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Dodgeville pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Richland Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Dodgeville came out on top in a nail-biter against Richland Center in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dodgers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
