Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is City College's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but City College had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They blew past the Aberdeen Eagles 13-3. The Black Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

John MacGillis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. MacGillis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, City College got a massive performance out of Rahniah Smith, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nico Walton, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

City College was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in eight consecutive games.

City College is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Aberdeen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

City College has already played their next game (against Poly), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Aberdeen does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
