Volleyball Recap: Highlands Ranch Takes a Loss

Highlands Ranch had lost 13 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-16 to make it 14. They lost 3-0 to the Thomas Jefferson Spartans. The Falcons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Talan Polk paced Highlands Ranch's offense, picking up nine kills. Polk got some help from Derek Pierce and his 18 assists. Alex Shroyer controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

As for Thomas Jefferson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. The win was familiar territory for they, who have now won four contests in a row.

Leading Thomas Jefferson to victory were Hassan Almutkassi and Zane Bath. Almutkassi had nine digs and two aces, while Bath had four digs, four blocks, and two aces. Bath is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 12 games he's played.

Highlands Ranch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Regis Jesuit on the 23rd. As for Thomas Jefferson, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Denver South on the 25th.
