Football Game Preview: Northern York Polar Bears vs. Palmyra Cougars

The Northern York Polar Bears will square off against the Palmyra Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northern York comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Northern York is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Shippensburg on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Polar Bears lost 28-7 to the Greyhounds. While losing is never fun, the Polar Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 167th).

Northern York might have lost, but man, Tristan Wenrich was a machine: he rushed for 89 yards and one TD, and also picked up 48 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 43 points the game before, Palmyra was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell 22-13 to Red Land. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost four in a row.

Northern York's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Palmyra, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Northern York against Palmyra when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-14 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Cougars' Justin Kaplan, who rushed for 160 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Polar Bears to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
