Baseball Game Preview: Poway Titans vs. Granite Hills Eagles

The Poway Titans will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Granite Hills Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Poway is headed out to face Granite Hills after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Poway never let Santana get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Tuesday. The Titans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17, 2024.

Poway got a great performance from Luke Prigmore as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Prigmore has allowed since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Parker Smith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Bowser, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Granite Hills had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past Rancho Buena Vista 2-0. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Brenden Lewis made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Lewis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Poway suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Granite Hills in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Poway avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
