Softball Recap: Holliston Panthers vs. Norwood Mustangs

Holliston extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-11. They lost 14-4 to the Norwood Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in March.

Holliston saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julia Furey, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Those hits were Furey's first of the season. Grace Schoenberg was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Norwood, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Norwood's side, Lilliana Cordani was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Cordani was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Maureen Larkee was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and two doubles while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jackie Powers, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Holliston will head out to face off against Dedham at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Marauders have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Norwood, they are taking a road trip to square off against Ashland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
