Softball Game Preview: Avon Braves vs. Warsaw Tigers

Avon is 8-2 against Warsaw since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Braves will host the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. The last four games Avon has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Avon's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Le Roy 1-0. The victory continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Oatkan Knights: they've now won eight in a row.

The result came thanks to Jessie Crye's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Warsaw, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Letchworth 12-11 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the game before.

Warsaw's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-8. As for Avon, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.

Avon was able to grind out a solid win over Warsaw in their previous meeting back in April, winning 7-3. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
