Softball Preview: England Lions vs. Des Arc Eagles
The England Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Des Arc Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
England unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Palestine-Wheatley by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, England couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Des Arc put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Monday. Everything went their way against Carlisle as Des Arc made off with a 9-3 win. With that victory, Des Arc brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Kaylee McDonald made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). McDonald has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 15 consecutive pitching appearances. McDonald was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
McDonald wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emma Buckner, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
