Recap: Jefferson Saints vs. Lake County Panthers
The Jefferson Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to Lake County. Jefferson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lake County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Saints players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Antonio Lynch, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Lynch's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Luis Fajardo was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Valdez, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Jefferson dropped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Lake County, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Jefferson will be playing at home against Arrupe Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Arrupe Jesuit is ranked 304th, while Jefferson is ranked 313th). As for Lake County, they will head out on the road to take on Englewood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
