Basketball Game Preview: Clear Creek Golddiggers vs. Dawson School Mustangs

Two dominant guards in Zephyrus Schuessler and Milo Richtel are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Clear Creek Golddiggers will head out on the road to challenge the Dawson School Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Clear Creek is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Clear Creek is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Heritage Christian on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Clear Creek was outmatched by Heritage Christian and fell 60-27. While losing is never fun, the Golddiggers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Eagles are ranked 102nd).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Donovan Miller, who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Dawson School ended up a good deal behind Golden View Classical Academy on Thursday and lost 46-30. The matchup marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Clear Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Dawson School, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Clear Creek came up short against Dawson School in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 59-53. Can Clear Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
