Basketball Game Preview: McGavock Raiders vs. Overton Bobcats

McGavock and Overton are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The McGavock Raiders will head out to take on the Overton Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Overton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on McGavock, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, McGavock turned things around against Hunters Lane on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors, sneaking past 47-45.

Meanwhile, Overton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Hillsboro, falling 64-40. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Burros are ranked tenth).

Overton's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for McGavock, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-13.

McGavock took a serious blow against Overton when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 60-32. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Overton's Tahj McLemore, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
