The Horizon Huskies will take on the Poston Butte Broncos in a tournament on Wednesday. Horizon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Horizon's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Skyline. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.

Horizon got a great performance from Connor McDonald as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts McDonald has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Chris Quigg was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Horizon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Poston Butte, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Arcadia 4-3 on Tuesday.

Cordd Baker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Damian Serrano, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Poston Butte's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Horizon, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Horizon couldn't quite get it done against Poston Butte in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can Horizon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
