Softball Recap: Shaker Takes a Loss

Shaker had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-13 to make it four. They lost 7-1 to the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans. If the Bison were looking for revenge after losing 4-3 to the Spartans when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ruby Szemplinski made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run.

As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games.

On Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake's side, Ava Yahoudy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Yahoudy.

At the plate, Addisyn Knapik was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Gianna Comino also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Coming up, Shaker will challenge Saratoga Springs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Streaks have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they will square off against Niskayuna at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
