Football Game Preview: Bishop McDevitt Crusaders vs. Exeter Township Eagles

Two dominant backs in Nazir Jones-Davis and Leomar Brown are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bishop McDevitt Crusaders will challenge the Exeter Township Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop McDevitt is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.

Bishop McDevitt is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Mechanicsburg: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Crusaders blew the Wildcats out of the water with a 47-7 final score. Considering the Crusaders have won eight matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Maurice Barnes Jr. was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 63 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Williams, who rushed for 35 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bishop McDevitt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Exeter Township's offense rose to the challenge against a Buckskins defense that boasted an average of only 13.18 points allowed on Friday. The Eagles came out on top against Conestoga Valley by a score of 41-34.

Bishop McDevitt better keep an eye on Jayden Ware. He was instrumental in Exeter Township's win, picking up 118 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Ware really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 77 yards.

One reason for the win was Exeter Township's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jackson Kozik and Mathew Lis, who racked up five sacks between them.

Bishop McDevitt's record now sits at 9-2. As for Exeter Township, their record is now 10-2.

Everything came up roses for Bishop McDevitt against Exeter Township in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 48-14 win. In that game, the Crusaders amassed a halftime lead of 20-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
