Baseball Recap: Canton Has No Trouble Against Oliver Ames

Canton won the last time they faced Oliver Ames and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 9-1 win.

Kyle Redquest spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has become a key player for Canton: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7-1 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Gibbons, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Teddy Shuman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Canton's victory bumped their record up to 9-7-1. As for Oliver Ames, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Canton will be playing in front of their home fans against Nipmuc Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Oliver Ames, they will venture away from home to face off against North Attleborough at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
