Eustace proved they can win big on Friday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Quitman 3-2. Winning may never get old, but Eustace sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Eustace wouldn't go down easily and took Quitman into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-17, 24-26, 16-25, 15-9.
Madison Truitt paced Eustace's offense, picking up 16 kills. Truitt got some help from Landry Huggins and her 19 assists. Huggins was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.
Eustace's victory bumped their record up to 25-3. As for Quitman, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-15.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Eustace will square off against rival Mineola at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Quitman is set to face off against their familiar foe Winona at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
