The Webber Trojans will head out to take on the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Webber is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Webber is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over Elverado on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Walker Sherwin, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Kaden Richardson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Webber always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .725. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Norris City-Omaha-Enfield posted their closest win since April 16, 2024 on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Grayville, sneaking past 11-9. The victory continues a trend for the Fighting Cardinals in their matchups with the Bison: they've now won six in a row.
Liam Drone made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Drone was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Caden Sexton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Norris City-Omaha-Enfield's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Webber, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.
Norris City-Omaha-Enfield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Webber hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, though, as they've only averaged .225. Will they be able to contain Webber's hitters?
Webber took their win against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
