League recap: Holtville climbs in state rankings

Holtville scaled the state rankings by moving to 603 from 660 this week, the biggest jump in Manzanita. The Vikings were able to move up by besting Palo Verde Valley 28-7.

Vincent Memorial took down Borrego Springs 43-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Scots' DANIEL PALMA and ALEJANDRO GARCIA have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback PALMA has thrown for 595 yards this season, while GARCIA has 11 catches for 211 yards. Holtville's Clayton Bowler leads the league in rushing yards with 893.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Keith Smith's team takes on Crawford. The Vikings are in third place, while the Colts are in first place.

There should be lots of points scored when Holtville and Crawford face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Vikings comes in having scored 184 this season, while Michael Wright's team has scored 224. Holtville scored 28 points last week as it topped the Yellowjackets.

Vincent Memorial led Manzanita in scoring this week by notching 43 points on the Rams.
