Basketball Recap: James Island Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cane Bay on Monday, James Island came back down to earth. The contest between the James Island Trojans and the Lucy Beckham Bengals didn't end well, with the James Island Trojans falling 53-36. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Bengals recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why James Island lost on Tuesday, don't look at Madisyn Smith. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals. Those ten steals gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Lehr, who posted five points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

James Island's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Lucy Beckham, they moved to 5-6 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

James Island will head out to square off against West Ashley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lucy Beckham, they will welcome Berkeley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Berkeley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.
