Softball Recap: Wake Prep Academy Guardians vs. Jordan Falcons

Wake Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell just short of the Jordan Falcons by a score of 7-6.

Emmy Kirby made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Grimsgaard, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Wake Prep Academy didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with seven strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jordan only tossed three.

On Jordan's side, Gabrielle Penny spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jazmin Ramos, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Wake Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Jordan, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wake Prep Academy will face off against Oxford Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jordan, they will head out on the road to take on Southern Durham at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Jordan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
