Baseball Game Preview: Medina Mustangs vs. Royalton-Hartland Rams

For the first time this season, Medina will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Royalton-Hartland Rams at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Medina will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Medina's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Depew 9-0. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Preston Woodworth made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vinny Gray, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Aidan Papaj was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Royalton-Hartland suffered their biggest loss since April 23, 2024 on Sunday. They lost 11-3 to Maryvale.

Royalton-Hartland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Medina pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Royalton-Hartland, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Medina came out on top in a nail-biter against Royalton-Hartland when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
