Baseball Recap: Pecos Takes a Loss

Pecos lost against Cobre back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Panthers fell just short of the Indians by a score of 9-8. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Avenicio Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. He has become a key player for Pecos: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Jonah Villanueva was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Pecos' loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Cobre, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Pecos has already played their next game, a 7-2 defeat against Bosque on the 5th. As for Cobre, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-3 win against Sandia Prep on the 5th.
