Rowan County has gone 9-1 against Russell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Vikings will face off against the Red Devils at 8:00 p.m. Rowan County will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Russell's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Rowan County hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Vikings blew past Morgan County 15-0 on Monday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Russell rose to the challenge on Monday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Tomcats.

Kyle Mokas made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Russell is 11-3 when Mokas posts two or more runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Elijah Hankins was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Russell's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-1 (and 10-12 when he doesn't).

Rowan County's record now sits at 25-11. As for Russell, their record is now 20-13.

Rowan County beat Russell 10-5 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
