Softball Recap: Harrison Central Victorious

Harrison Central never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the D'Iberville Warriors 2-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 back in March.

The result came thanks to Gabrielle Smith's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Harrison Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kassidy Paris, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Paris has posted since back in March.

Harrison Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for D'Iberville, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Harrison Central will take on rival Biloxi at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, D'Iberville is set to square off against their familiar foe Gulfport at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
