Baseball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-18. They lost 16-1 to the Spearville Royal Lancers. That's two games in a row now that the Thunderbirds have lost by exactly 15 runs.

As for Spearville, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The result was nothing new for the Royal Lancers, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Spearville's part, Kaleb Konrade was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Konrade posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Player #00 looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Spearville got a massive performance out of Austin Ruiz, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Ruiz is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunner Hines, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Spearville beat Skyline by a score of 13-1 later that day.
