Volleyball Game Preview: Avon Lake Shoremen vs. Steele Comets

Avon Lake is 0-3 against Steele since March of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Shoremen will head out on the road to challenge the Comets at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Avon Lake is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Tuesday. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Bard Early College.

Avon Lake wouldn't go down easily and took Bard Early College into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 15-point loss. The final score came out to 25-0, 25-0, 0-25, 0-25, 15-0.

Meanwhile, Steele lost 3-0 to Nordonia on Tuesday. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Steele had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-22.

Avon Lake will have to contain Jake Penano as he made an impact in Steele's last game. He had ten digs. David Lewis also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Avon Lake's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Steele, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Avon Lake came up short against Steele in their previous meeting back in March, falling 3-1. Can the Shoremen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
