Soccer Game Preview: Mountain Ridge vs. Boulder Creek

Mountain Ridge hasn't had much luck against Boulder Creek recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions will be playing at home against the Boulder Creek Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Mountain Ridge's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Maryvale 10-0. Given the Mountain Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Panthers are ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Boulder Creek got the win against West Point on Monday by a conclusive 11-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Mountain Ridge's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five contests. As for Boulder Creek, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.

Mountain Ridge came out on top in a nail-biter against Boulder Creek when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will Mountain Ridge repeat their success, or does Boulder Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
