Recap: Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles vs. Portage Indians

The Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Portage, falling 89-38. Lake Station Edison was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-18.

Aidan Pridemore and Greg Sloan certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Pridemore scored eight points, while Sloan scored six points. Pridemore is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight.

Portage got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was O'mari Evans out in front who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Carter Kobe, who scored 19 points.

Portage used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Lake Station Edison. Three players got more time on the court than they're used to: Daequon Fields (six), Kaleb Hacker (13), and Aleem Abdulla (six). The trio had averaged 2.67, 5.33, and 2.25 minutes respectively before Tuesday's matchup. Hacker made the most of the opportunity, scoring five points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Lake Station Edison's defeat was their 11th straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Portage, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Lake Station Edison will head out on the road to challenge Boone Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Boone Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Saturday. As for Portage, they will be playing at home against Chesterton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chesterton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Portage likes a good challenge.
