Softball Game Preview: Weyauwega-Fremont Warhawks vs. Southern Door Eagles

The Weyauwega-Fremont Warhawks will venture away from home to square off against the Southern Door Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Weyauwega-Fremont is looking for their season's first win.

Weyauwega-Fremont fell victim to Wittenberg-Birnamwood and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 20-0 to the Chargers. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Warhawks were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Southern Door was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Algoma.

Alanah Kaye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Samantha Melville made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Delfosse, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Weyauwega-Fremont's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Southern Door, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Weyauwega-Fremont came out on top in a nail-biter against Southern Door in their previous meeting back in June of 2017, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Warhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
