Basketball Recap: Elgin Takes a Loss

Elgin lost against Pflugerville Connally back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Elgin Wildcats fell 48-35 to the Pflugerville Connally Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 549th, while the Cougars are ranked 204th).

Joshua Doe was his usual excellent self, putting up 17 points and six boards for Pflugerville Connally. Anthony Phagans was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Elgin is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9. As for Pflugerville Connally, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Elgin will face off against East View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pflugerville Connally, they will square off against Hendrickson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pflugerville Connally is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.
