Basketball Recap: Olympic Takes a Loss

Olympic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Ardrey Kell Knights 58-27. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-25 back in January.

Olympic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jasmyn Ashbourne, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 12 points, and Chaya James, who posted four points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Ashbourne also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.

Imani Shelton had a dynamite game for Ardrey Kell, going 8-for-15 en route to 17 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Layla Mapp, who had seven points in addition to nine steals and five assists.

Olympic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Ardrey Kell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Olympic will take on Berry at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ardrey Kell, they will head out on the road to take on Palisades at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
