Preview: Green Forest Tigers vs. Bergman Panthers
Green Forest is 0-10 against Bergman since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Green Forest Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Bergman Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Green Forest is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Green Forest lost to West Fork on the road by a decisive 58-44 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Green Forest in their matchups with West Fork: they've now lost four in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brayden Compton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hesten Maybee, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Bergman faced Elkins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bergman fell just short of Elkins by a score of 78-76. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Green Forest has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Bergman, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6.
Green Forest came up short against Bergman when the teams last played back in January, falling 64-53. Can Green Forest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
