Baseball Recap: Hiawatha Comes Up Short

After flying high against Alden-Hebron on Saturday, Hiawatha came back down to earth. The Hawks fell just short of the Green Giants by a score of 8-6 on Saturday. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Green Giants earlier this season, when they won 11-1.

Hiawatha got a good showing from Kamden Rasmus, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Hunter Ziegler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.

Hiawatha now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Alden-Hebron, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Hiawatha will host Somonauk at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Alden-Hebron, they will head out to take on Faith Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Green Giants will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Eagles will have lost three straight heading into Monday's game.
