Basketball Recap: Wellington's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Wellington was the 78-55 winner over Central when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wellington Wolverines fell to the Central Cobras 63-57. The Wolverines were up 22-8 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Central's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christopher Maxon, who posted 15 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. Maxon is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Christian Maxon, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and five assists.

Wellington's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4. As for Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wellington will square off against Palm Beach Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Vero Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vero Beach will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Central surely won't give up without a fight.
