Recap: Jones Trojans vs. Sinton Pirates
The Jones Trojans won the last time they faced the Sinton Pirates, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Jones walked away with a 40-31 win over Sinton. Given Jones' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 445th, while Sinton is ranked 1197th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jones was led to victory by Abby Del Bosque and Kaydence Menchaca. Del Bosque scored 12 points along with nine rebounds, while Menchaca scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. The game was Menchaca's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of CeeCee Dembo, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Jones is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Sinton, they bumped their record down to 3-15 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Jones will be playing in front of their home fans against Rockport-Fulton at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Sinton is on the road again on Friday and play against Calhoun at 1:15 p.m. on January 5th.
