Softball Recap: West Anchorage Comes Up Short

West Anchorage extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They came up short against the Colony Knights, falling 24-0. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 16-5 to the Knights when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Colony, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 22-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Colony's part, Emma Minnick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Minnick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 14 matchups.

In other batting news, Taylor Passard was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Malana Bell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

West Anchorage didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-1 loss against Bartlett on the 11th. As for Colony, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-3 victory against Wasilla on the 18th.
