Soccer Game Preview: St. John Paul II vs. St. Luke's Episcopal

The St. John Paul II Falcons will face off against the St. Luke's Episcopal Wildcats at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. John Paul II is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Cherokee County a 9-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but St. John Paul II sure are getting used to it with their 11th in a row.

Their offense was hitting Cherokee County from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Lauren Altman led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, St. Luke's Episcopal entered their tilt with Westminster School at Oak Mountain on Wednesday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Knights. Given St. Luke's Episcopal's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Westminster School at Oak Mountain are ranked 71st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. John Paul II's win bumped their record up to 18-1-2. As for St. Luke's Episcopal, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.
