Travis moved up to 555 from 582 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region IV District 26. A 34-27 win over Crockett helped the Rebels improve their standing.
Travis made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,606 from 5,941. The improvement was the result of 34-27 victory over the Cougars last week.
Armando Jacinto's team's dynamic duo of Johnathon Caldwell and Johnny Williams proved tough for Crockett to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Caldwell threw for 166 yards and four touchdowns and Williams had 52 yards receiving. Michael Calderon helped Travis' passing attack out by catching four balls for 36 yards.
A.J. Herrera was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 121 yards on 21 carries as McCallum topped John Waugh's team. Griffin Stuesser also contributed to the rushing game with 63 yards on the ground.
Travis' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rebels feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Caldwell has thrown for 1125 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Williams has 35 catches for 549 yards. Chris Clark leads the league in rushing with 552 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Region IV District 26 this week will be when the Cougars take on the Knights. As it stands, Crockett is in sixth, while McCallum is in second.
Travis led the league in scoring this week after putting up 34 points on the Cougars. Caldwell ran for 56 yards in the win.
