Baseball Recap: Franklin Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Independence, Franklin was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hillsboro Burros, sneaking past 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Admirals in their matchups with the Burros: they've now won eight in a row.

Brody GIfford looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Franklin: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Cory Hoard was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Carson Hoard was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Franklin's win bumped their record up to 7-16. As for Hillsboro, they moved to 14-6 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Franklin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Summit on the 14th. As for Hillsboro, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-3 win against Overton on the 14th.
