Softball Recap: Old Colony RVT Has No Trouble Against Avon

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bristol-Plymouth RVT, Old Colony RVT was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 25-7 margin over the Avon Panthers. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Sharon Delancey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Kayleigh DeSousa was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Leah Robitaille was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

The victory got Old Colony RVT back to even at 1-1. As for Avon, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Old Colony RVT beat the Panthers by a score of 15-4 later that day.
