Softball Preview: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs. Portsmouth Trojans        
        
		
            
 The Ironton Fighting Tigers will play host again  on Thursday to welcome the Portsmouth Trojans, where first pitch is scheduled  at 5:00  p.m. Ironton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8  runs per game  this season.
 Things were looking good for Ironton after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Dawson-Bryant by a score of  3-1.
  Braylin Wallace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in ten consecutive pitching appearances.
 Meanwhile, Portsmouth entered their tilt with West Union with two consecutive wins  but they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Dragons  a   10-0 shutout  on Monday.
 Portsmouth let  Emily Cheatham and  Amya Carr loose on the outfield. Cheatham  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3, while  Carr  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of  Madison Boren, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in two of her three plate appearances.
 Ironton's defeat  ended  a  six-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 17-5. As for Portsmouth, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five games,  which provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record  this season.
 Ironton was able to grind out a solid  victory over Portsmouth in their previous meeting  two weeks ago, winning  5-0. Does  Ironton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Portsmouth turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
