Baseball Game Preview: Madison Plains Golden Eagles vs. Cedarville Indians

For the second straight game, Madison Plains will face off against Cedarville. The Golden Eagles will head out to take on the Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison Plains will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Madison Plains made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cedarville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Golden Eagles put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 14-4 win on Monday. Considering the Golden Eagles have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Gavin Rhoads made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Rhoads was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paul Madden, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Brayden Evans was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Madison Plains kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cedarville only managed eight hits.

Cedarville's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Madison Plains, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
