Preview: Stephenville vs. Hirschi

Both Stephenville and Hirschi have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Stephenville is currently on a seven-game winning streak and looking to extend its dominance.

Stephenville's encounter with Pampa two weeks ago was a 29-point stomp, but the result last week was anything but. Stephenville came out on top in a nail-biter against Argyle, sneaking past 31 - 28. One of the main ringleaders for Stephenville was junior Krece Nowak, who ran for 156 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. Nowak has been a consistent playmaker for Stephenville as this was the 6th good game in a row from him.

As for Hirschi, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's just how it played out between it and Decatur last week. Hirschi blew past Decatur 58 - 28. Junior Daimarqua Foster was especially active in the win, finding the end zone an impressive four times. Foster supplied the game with one of its most unforgettable moments, a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. This was also Foster's 12th game in a row with at least 100 yards rushing. Senior Javen Banks got in on the action, too, by scoring two touchdowns.

Their wins bumped Stephenville and Hirschi up to an identical 11-2. Hirschi's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Stephenville defense that got 6.5 sacks against Argyle last week. We'll see if it is up to the challenge.
